Yoga and Stress Reduction

One of the most sought-out benefits of yoga is its ability to reduce stress and promote positive mental health, reducing the incidence of conditions such as depression and dysthymia.

OneHealth supports these generally accepted perks to Yoga, with 186 and 164 peer-reviewed studies stating yoga decreases the conditions of depressive disorder and emotional stress respectively.

In fact, one study which conducted a controlled study on the effects of yoga on COVID-19 patients found “a significant decrease in stress, anxiety, and depression was observed in the patients who undertook the add-on yoga intervention.”

This effect extends beyond COVID-19 patients, as multiple other studies in the OneHealth database found similar reduced depression effects in prenatally-depressed women, heart disease patients, and type 2 diabetes patients.
