Berberine and Cancer

Berberine and Cancer

Using OneHealth Pro displaying high impact, peer-reviewed research, we can see that berberine decreases the likelihood of many conditions, with the majority of research supporting its role in reducing cancer and various tumors.

Many studies have recently investigated the scientific benefits of berberine on cancer, with some studies even suggesting the drug for use in clinical treatments for cancer. One study which reviewed recent literature on berberine concluded that “the active ingredient of berberine has clear inhibitory effects on various cancers, including colorectal cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, and cervical cancer”.

However other literature has stated that “there is a lack of research related to the biomolecular targets of BBR, which directly restricts the development of berberine in the pharmaceutical field.”  Thus, additional research studies will be required about the compound to support its therapeutic use.
